A legend. Be it true, be it lies. It all starts right here.
A long, long time ago, when this world was only beginning. Back before there were any humans, any animals. Only was there land. Land, and three God-like creatures that wanted to be the one to protect it. They each wanted to be the God of this new world. So, for many, many days they fought. The battles were sometimes long and harsh; and sometimes they were short and swift. But it carried out for perhaps a year or two. If one was harmed, then the next time it would take it's revenge on one of the others. And a time came where it seemed that this world would fall before it even started, but that was not the case.
One day the three God-like creatures discovered something important. Something that ended all the chaos and fighting. Something that started the world. They found that though they each wanted to be the God of this world, none of them could. And the reason for that was because they found the true protector of the earth. The true God. And this God was more powerful than them all. It had already been made the God of this world, and the others could not, would not, argue with it. This creature then showed the others that they too could be part of this world. And with that, split the world into three parts. One part was given to each God. And while each God was to control and watch over their part, the one, true God himself watched over the whole world.
The four Gods lived forever. Time could not kill them. They were, however, still mortal. Each could die by being harmed, but this would be hard. They all have powerful magic and often are hidden deep within their part of the world, though they do come and walk across their world, they are still not attacked. The creatures that live in their parts respect the Gods. The ones that have claimed to see them and the ones that believe in them do, but there are many others that do not respect the Gods. And even more that do not believe in them. Humans are mostly the ones that do not respect the Gods. Therefore they naturally do not live in any of the parts.
There is more though. It is said that if one of the demigods, known as the Forest Spirit, the Sky Spirit, and the Ocean Spirit, is killed by the hands of a mortal, something will occur. That part of the earth will be no longer controlled by a God, and to some that is a good thing, while to others it is not. And that mortal that killed the God will be in charge of the God's followers. For each God's true followers are hidden along with the God. They take it's orders and are happy to follow it. But once the God is dead, these creatures will be forced into the control of the killer. Forced not by physical force, but by the force of the earth.
If the true God of the earth falls before the hands of a mortal something incredible and awesome will occur. If the head of this God is taken and placed upon where it has been killed, something beyond imaginable glory will happen. It has only been dreamed about, never known. But a horrible creature will come forth to stop the one that succeeds in this. What it is, is unknown. All that is known is that this creature is all powerful, though not immortal. But it is believed that though it would be near impossible to defeat such a creature, it may be worth it for what lies ahead. And if this world will fall to blood-shed for this goal, only time can tell.
