It's all a game of this or that,
Now verses then.
Better off against,
Worse for wear…
And you're someone,
Who knows someone, who knows someone,
I once knew.
And I just want to be a part of this…
So hum hallelujah,
Just off the key of reason…
I thought I loved you…
It's just how you looked in the light.
A teenage vow in a parking lot,
Til tonight do us part
I sing the blues,
And swallow them too…

The night’s sky glittered above the trees as it usually did, the crescent moon glowing, a small scattering of small, twinkling stars surrounding it. The pale light cast eerie shadows across the faintly bubbling surface of the spring, a thin veil of steam hovering above the slim figure of the pale-coloured femme. The moonlight caught in her blond tresses, highlighting it until it was ethereally pale, the same glinting colour as the part-moon above. It caressed the curves of her bare bodice, which was faintly distorted under the rippling, moving surface of the clear water, her somewhat pale skin almost translucent in the light. She clung to the bank, as though afraid she would sink beneath the surface. Yet her expression was calm, her eyes closed. She rested her dial upon the ground next to the water‘s edge, the heavy scent of damp earth caught deep in her throat. But it was not unpleasant; on the contrary, scents like this made the fae happy that she had the amount of freedom others did not…
Almost subconsciously, her grip tightened on the bank, her fingers digging hard into the soft dirt. Her whole body seemed to tense, curling in on itself, until she was almost in the foetal position. Her expression changed, too from blank and calm, to tense and screwed up, as though she was suffering considerable pain. For a few minutes, she remained as so, completely cut off from the world around her, too lost in the pain of her past, and memories. Eventually, she seemed to ‘let go’ of her anguish, and relaxed her grip. Her whole body seemed to unfurl, like a hard cocoon, revealing her soft, fragile beauty. Slowly, she raised her dial a few centimetres from the ground, and let her orbs open, her dusky-coloured eyelashes fluttering like a pair of newly-spread wings. She blinked once, twice, looking skywards, staring up at the spectral god before her, her hazel orbs appearing much lighter in the moon-bright light.
A shiver ran through her whole body, even though most of it was still submerged under the warm liquid, which lapped gently against her bodice and the bank as she moved. Her gaze shifted from the moon, to flick back and forth around the small clearing that surrounded the spring. It quivered to a stop, to rest on the dark trees that, once seeming to be miles away from her, now pressed in, as though trying to trap her. She tensed once more, shaking violently. Her first reaction was to get out of the water, to find her clothes, and to run as fast as she could. She almost did exactly that, half hauling herself out of the comforting waters, so that the top half of her body was suddenly exposed. Just as she went to raise one slim pillar to push herself up with, she stopped, her heartbeat pounding in her chest. As she remained perfectly still, a cruel wind chose that moment to whip past her. Her body shuddered, yet she didn’t move. She couldn’t. Paralysed with fear, she flicked her gaze around her, suddenly feeling that she was being watched. Her gaze moved quickly to the small pile of her clothes, that suddenly seemed way out of reach. Breathing hard, she realised she had two options. Get out as quickly as possible, grab her clothes, and run. Or, she could remain where she was, hidden in the water, and hope that, whatever it was, would quickly lose interest, and leave. Slowly, she slid down, hiding the shock of the suddenly hot water against her cold skin. Wrapping her slender limbs around herself, she crouched as low as she could, hiding as much of her figure as she possibly could, so that only her head was above the surface, her expression scared.

My words are my faith,
To hell with our good name…
A remix up your guts,
Your insides x-rayed.
And one day we'll get nostalgic for disaster.
We're a bull,
Your ears are just a china shop…
I love you in the same way.
There's a chapel in a hospital…
One foot in your bedroom,
And one foot out the door…
Sometimes we take chances,
Sometimes we take pills.
I could write it better than you ever felt it...

A rustle of leaves and twigs shattered the silence as if by the edge of a knife. A figure pushed through the dense foliage of the forest and stepped heavily into the clearing. He staggered forward slightly, taking him out of the dark shadows and into the white light of the moon. The image was horrifying. Black matted hair ran wild and free, hiding most of his upper face from view. However, deep black eyes shone through, reflecting rage and thirst. His mouth was slightly open, exposing a set of razor sharp white teeth. A dark red substance on the fangs flowed swiftly down his chin and neck, staining his clothes.
The vampire remained in the same position. Not moving even the slightest bit for longer then seemed to be necessary. It almost looked as if he had fallen asleep standing there. But just before one would start to wonder if they could wave their hand in front of his face without him even noticing, he stepped forward and switched to an almost crouching position. Black eyes shifted back and forth spontaneously, taking in the whole clearing. It was then that they picked up on the girl. Keeping his eyes set on her, he straighten himself again. Mouth turned up into a crooked smile and a quiet chuckle managed to escape him, though he did nothing to cover it anyway. He did not move, however. His figure was set, confident, if not evil, but he stood his ground, the dark smile plastered on his face. And with this, he waited, only, for the girl's response.

The startled fae only just managed to remain silent, her whole bodice rigid, shivering with fear. Her liquid hazel orbs were trained onto the spot where the sounds were coming from. She half flinched as the sound of breaking wood ripped through her body., reminding her painfully of breaking bone. Her gaze never wavering, she rubbed the line of her shoulder bone, her long fingers brushing the outer edge of one painted wing. Her own weird way of keeping her calm. But, even with this technique, her heart still pounded against her ribcage, almost painfully so. Her once relaxed grip of the bank suddenly tensed, her fairly long nails digging into the earth once more. As the crashing and rustling got louder, got nearer, her heartbeat got more painful. Finally, after the young femme had been on tenterhooks for several agonizing moments, a figure came out of the shadows. Not wanting to appear rude, the fae looked away, sinking an inch or two deeper under the water, which she only just realised was as transparent as glass. A little annoyed, she cast a sideways glance at the stranger, under a curtain of pale blond hair, her own curiosity getting the better of her fear. As soon as she took his appearance in, she almost wished that she had kept her gaze down at the water, for her heart, far from beating faster, nearly stopped completely.
Her grip of the damp earth, once hard and tense, grew slack. Her body went limp. Her gaze, still edged with fear, was blank. The small crevice she had put her foot in suddenly slipped out of her grasp, and the only sound she could hear was the rush of water in her ears. For a minute or so, the water around her was filled with air bubbles, making it almost impossible to see. Soon, the warm liquid cleared, and for a while, the fae stood suspended, the shock running through her body binding her to the stop. It was only when it grew harder to breathe, did she realise the sudden danger that had presented itself to her. Slowly, she propelled herself upwards. Breaking the thin divide between her world and the strangers world, the girl took a few gasping breaths of air, her throat burning as she gulped at the cold air. Grabbing for the bank again, she flicked her gaze to the figure standing a mere few feet from her. She shuffled a few feet to the left, wanting a little space while she composed herself. She let her damp tresses fall into her maw, which was a delicate flush of pink, from the heat of the water and sheer embarrassment that she had nearly drowned. She tipped her dial forward a little, her hair dripping water, and rested it on her folded limbs, half her delicate features hidden in shadow. Though her whole stance seemed off-putting, if the brujo was to start a conversation, she would reply, or she would eventually start one herself. She just needed some time to calm herself, to calm her breathing, which was sharp and uneven in her chest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark eyes filled with bloodlust watched curiously for the female's reaction. He was barely surprised when her furiously beating heart, which to him, was loud enough to hear, nearly stopped. What did catch him off guard, however, was how she nearly drowned. Though, if she hadn't saved herself, he would have. There was reason enough for that. Why let a perfectly good human go to waste? He wasn't about to let that happen. Not now anyway. Not when the vampire was practically drunk of the smell of blood. And human blood at that. It had been long since he had tasted this, and he was growing sick of feeding on the animals he found in the forest. He took an involuntary step forward. Control of his body was slipping away by the second. It wouldn't be long before there was nothing he, nor anyone else, could do...
Quickly, the male shook his head, as if it would clear the thoughts from his mind. The sweet smell of the mortal kept dazing him, making him go out of control. And though it probably shouldn't matter, he felt he was forgetting his manners. It was beyond him to kill a female in such a manner. Or perhaps it was just the mood he was in. Casually, he raised a hand from his side and brought it to his face. Pushing the hair out of his eyes, he tucked it behinds his ear and exposed his face. The smooth, icy features of his skin were now visible. He probably would have looked absolutely stunning, if it weren't for how dirty and matted his hair was. But despite this, he would still be considered beautiful. His face composed itself into a smile again, but his eyes remained the same. Then, he spoke to the girl, his voice delicate and soothing, yet, in a strange way, mocking.
"Are you alright, dear? Do you need help?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slowly, the fae inclined her dial to the brujo, her gaze remaining blank. She let her hair fall into her face, which clung flat to her maw. Water droplets rolled down her cheek, which ran passed a small cut on the left side of her face. She reached up, and brushed the vivid colour with her index finger. Holding it in front of her face, she watched the red liquid roll down her finger, before licking it off with her tongue. It tasted bitter to her, and her maw wrinkled slightly, before changing back to a blank stare. She unwillingly let her gaze roll up-wards, staring into the almost breath-taking face of the stranger. She clung to the bank tighter, so hard she felt a numb pain in her chest. A deep sense of foreboding slashed through her stomach, and she resisted the urge to jump out of the water, and sprint away as fast as her bare pillars could carry her.
It wasn't that she was scared of the brute. It took a lot to scare her, ever since the fire. No, it was because she knew that this male, was very, very...dangerous. It was clear as day to her that he was not one she should cross. He seemed to ooze a certain sense of power, that hidden X-factor that so many males she had met lacked. She knew that it wouldn't take much for her to become deeply attracted to him. But she wasn't entirely weak-willed. She would not simper and swoon. She still had some dignity left, even after having been found very much naked and very much defenseless. Instead, she scraped some of the hair back from her face, she smiled up at the brujo, a small smirk if anything, and spoke quite normally back, raising herself a little, so that another inch of bare skin was visible, as well as the bright blue butterfly that danced on her collarbone.
I'm fine, thank you very much. And if you want to help, would you pass me that pile of clothes over there? Getting a little chilly, if I'm perfectly honest...

Bounding through the forest, the pup had gone, leaving Nyx to chase after him. She'd ended up with plenty of energy after her latest meal, so it wasn't a problem, she just didn't want to cheat by listening for her Cameo's heartbeat, so she ran as fast as she could through the woods, narrowly missing trees on multiple occasions. Eventually, she just tripped over a rock, which sent her flying into the water, hitting it face first between the other vampire, which she had missed, and the unsuspecting human, a future target, perhaps, though she was full and didn't really need any more blood at that moment. That brown-haired shifter had been absolutely delicious; stupid, though good. She'd tasted like candy and Nyx had a horrible sweet tooth...
Picking herself up, Nyx just sort of stood there, wearing a now-soaked black dress, which seemed to blend with her black hair, creating a shadowy effect over her entire body. Her eyes gazed curiously at the pair as she finally noticed her presence, flashing her fangs at the male to show that she was not a meal, though in such a way as to avoid showing the female. Glancing from one to the other, her eyes grew wide; she had just come between a vampire and their kill, a bad idea even when she didn't smell like food... She didn't want to hurt anyone at that moment, being in such a good mood, but she needed to get out of this to find Cameo and possibly make, if not a friend, then an acquaintance, as she was somewhat tired of only knowing her Puppy...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The vampire's eyes flicked instantly to the female's bleeding face, completely ignoring her words. There hadn't been a cut before. Suddenly, his eyes grew wide. His mouth opened, as if about to scream, but no sound came. It was already too late. He couldn't stop himself now. Yeah, he had wanted to be kind to the female, talk with her a little. Give her a last request, perhaps. But the smell of blood hanging heavily in the air was far too much for him. There was no way that he could hold himself back any longer. But either way, it really didn't matter too much. And with that, he let all control loose.
Now wild eyes shifted to the forest. There was a noise in the distance. And it was then that a female flew forward from the trees and landed between him and his prey. He watched her from narrowed black eyes as she stood and faced him. The expression on his face remained unchanged as she flashed her fangs to him. Only anger rushed through his body. He had been about to spring onto the female, but now this vampire was in the way. The bloodlust was so strong now, he needed the girl. A growl emerged from his throat, filling the clearing with the dreadful sound. It was a warning, and that was obvious. He was not afraid to fight her. And if she didn't get out of the way, he would without hesitation. His body was still in a slightly crouched position, ready to leap at any movement that he didn't agree with...[/center][/sub]
