It was raining. Light drops slipped slowly down the fur of the young wolf. He had, once again, been able to escape the torture of his own home and be let free into the beauty of the forest. It was only his second chance in doing so, but he was already getting better at doing it. He hoped, but also knew, that no one would notice that he was gone until he had returned. The way home, he had memorized. Every tree, every twist and turn, he knew them. And all this he learned from simply looking over it all once. Even he himself was quite amazed that he could do that.
It had been many hours ago that he left his safe home. But he had no fear of something bad happening to him. Not at all. For the wolf, it was worse to be at his home than to be alone. In fact, he loved to be alone. That was one of the reasons he was here. Breaking off from others, stuck in a world of green and darkness. It was his life. It might even be said that he would die if he was bothered by others too much, but that would be half lie. Though he did hate being with others, he would not die from it.
At this point in time, night was growing quickly. The sun was almost down and odd color spread across all the area. The black furred wolf, formally known as Sek, now stopped, feeling that he had come to the perfect place. Beautiful flowers were in blossom during this part of the year, and trees had large, wonderful, green leaves on them. He loved the nature so. It was his passion, as he said to himself many times. Others, he did not need them. Not now, not ever. All he needed was his beautiful forest.
Golden eyes watched over this part of the forest. Picking out a tree, he moved toward it. It was the way things were done. He would pick out a tree that he wanted to learn about, and he would learn it. Paws paced around the tree, eyes looking over it, taking in every detail. It was an amazing tree. Even greater than the one he had been with before, when he found Rede. Suddenly, Sek leaped up onto a low branch and climbed up to the very top. Searching through the forest was a trying thing to do, so now being able to rest in a great tree was a wonderful prize. Sek sat down on a nice sturdy branch from which he could see the rain forest stretched out before him. Rain fell continuously from the sky, giving the area a grand look. The wolf's fur was drenched and he was quite cold, but he did not care. He would do just about anything to do what he was doing now.
Soon the sun had slipped beyond the horizon and Sek was growing evermore tired. As he watched the forest and it's every move, his golden eyes slowly closed. A dream came upon him soon after. A wonderful dream of being alone and searching through the forest, just as he had been this very day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Semi-silent footsteps came and left a few times, wandering around the forest. Their owner seemed to be nothing more than a shadow of a creature, save for the golden markings which seemed to glow in the darkness. Golden orbs penetrated the night in search of others, or of food. It didn't matter which, but the fae didn't want to be alone. Not anymore...
Boshaani glanced around, ears perked for any noise and golden eyes wide, watching the shadows for others that might wish her harm. There weren't many of these, it was true, but with the things she'd been hearing lately, it never hurt to be careful...
Watching the tres, she thought she saw the shape of a wolf perched in one of the branches, but with her next step it was gone.
It's just your imagination, silly
She told herself, but she couldn't help but go back. There it was again! She sat down and watched the wolf, wondering how he was asleep all the way up there. She knew she could pull that off, but she hadn't met anyone else that could yet...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dreams faded into black. Sek could no longer sleep. There was this feeling... The feeling one gets when they know they are not alone. Gold eyes opened and the world filled them once again. He was not comfortable, nor happy, because of this feeling, but yet he could not help but be calmed by the beauty of nature. It may be dark, but Sek could clearly see all that was going on. After a few moments, the wolf was wide awake and able to search around him. He did not like being with others, therefore he hoped to find whom it was that was watching him and escape off in the other way. He was reluctant to have to leave the beautiful tree that he had found, but he could go elsewhere and see other great things of nature. And it was always possible to return back later.
Swift paws jumped from branch to branch with great skill that the wolf had been born with. His feet barely touched the branch before he was able to jump off to the next one. And with such stealth... he doubted anyone would be able to notice he was there, unless they already did. Once close to the ground, he stopped and perched once again. Eyes scanned the forest in search of the one who he was in fear of. If they found him... would they hurt him? Or was it some kind creature that had happened to be nearby? Sek did not know, therefore was in fear. He had no way of protection besides the ability to flee. And if he was not able to get away, what would he do? He had no experience in fighting with claw and tooth. Death or worse would become of him.
Though the young creature was in fear of what was out there, he did not show it. No, that he would never do. He was too strong for that. And even more so would he stay calm. Never lose the calm. That would only show weakness. But what was out there? What was watching him? Or was there even anything at all? Or was it just his imagination?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, now she was sure of it. There had been a wolf in that tree. Only he'd just jumped down. She stayed in the shadows, though, her tail curled around her, with her golden marks hidden now. She, too, was afraid. She didn't want to get into a fight, as good as she might have been... So she stepped out of her shadows, exposing herself to him, golden markings and all. She didn't mean any harm, but she didn't know what to say... There was nothing she could do that would calm him, that she could think of. But, even if she could think of something, she couldn't have said it anyway, since her vocal chords seemed to stop working right at the moment.
I-i-i-i...
She started shaking, then, unable to stop. She was so scared... She didn't even know why, really, but she couldn't help herself. Something about this other wolf scared her... And she was showing it too obviously for her own liking...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sek had continued to watch from his perch on a low branch of the tree. Eyes widened as a strange sort of creature suddenly emerged from the forest. From the looks of this new creature, she seemed to be as afraid as he was, perhaps even more. After a moments thought, Sek realized that that could work to his advantage. She would not know that he did not know how to fight or protect himself. She seemed to fear him greatly. If he could keep up an act of being fierce, maybe she would not fight him and run away. This was a satisfying thought, so the black wolf became quite calm with what he was doing. However, even with this, he was still in fear of what could happen if this creature did find out that he knew nothing or fighting.
Sharp teeth were bared, fur spiked back in a menacing way. Eyes keep a sort of cruel look that they always had despite that they rarely had a reason to be so. As he spoke to the creature, his voice was a deep, dreary sound that did not fit his youth at all. But maybe one could not tell that he was so young.
Who are you, and what do you want?
Inside, Sek was quite proud of himself for acting as he had. It was nice to know that he could well make himself sound dangerous, even if he was not so. Now, he could only wonder how it was that he affected the creature that stood before him. Was she more scared now? Or did she know that he was faking? Oh, he hoped she did not know... Sek had no way of knowing whether she was a dangerous creature, or a kind one, so it was only natural that he feared her. And with so much death and danger that this would held, it was quite possible that she was not the latter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still trembling, Boshaani shook her head and was about to turn and run. She didn't want to fight and she was too scared to think. Worried thoughts went through her head as she tried to think of what to do...
D-don't hurt me! I was just-just walking b-by... I was wondering if anyone could climb in the trees, like m-me...
She then burst out sobbing, since she couldn't think or fight or do anything. She felt so helpless! She couldn't even run away... But she couldn't just let herself die, since Tigger needed her, to some extent. And she needed to live, since how else would she have any hope of finding someone to share her life with?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sek was completely shocked my the creature's reaction. He stepped back in this shock, and in doing so lost his footing. The wolf slipped and fell off the branch and onto the ground. He was not hurt, for the branch was the lowest on the tree. Standing back up again, his body had lost its fierce look. Golden eyes watched the creature before him with pity now. No longer could he fear her, not at all. Though there was always the chance of being tricked... After a moment, Sek decided to speak to her, but not cruelly this time. However, he would keep his eyes open just in case she was trying to fool him. Thoughts wondered how that could possibly be. How someone could act so upset and yet be trying to trick someone. But it was possible. So he would keep watch.
I won't hurt you. Now, who is it that you are? And as for climbing trees, I've always known how.
The voice was not harsh, but not incredibly nice either. Sek watched his words closely, to make sure that he did not release any information that should not be known. He kept perfectly still, watching her every move carefully. Ready to leap into the bush around at any moment. Claws dug into the ground slightly. Quite unsure what the creature would say or do next. She seemed helpless and afraid. But nothing was as it seemed anymore. One cannot trust another. That was the way Sek thought. He trusted no one. No one but himself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still shaking, Boshaani glanced worriedly at the stranger. She still wasn't sure... But what else could she do? If she fled, he would most certainly overtake her, with her being in the state she was... But she didn't want to talk right now, she wouldn't be able to speak properly...
I'm B-boshaani... And whom do I address?
After sitting down, Boshaani forced herself to stop shaking before she fell over. That wouldn't be good. Afterwards, she felt a bit better, though still quite nervous. But that couldn't be helped. The fae watched the other wolf, though she nodded at his comment about knowing how to climb trees. She had been gifted in a similar way and was grateful, since that was how she could stay away from others for so long. She hid in the trees.
But she merely smiled as she remembered how she had learned to survive on her own, since she didn't know her parents. It was her belief that she had been cared for by a God, though which one was unknown to even her...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sek nodded to the creature now known to him as Boshaani. He listened then to her question, and hesitated in returning an answer. Could he afford to tell her who he was? The wolf was still unsure that he could trust her. These days were cruel. So much pain, so much death. Even at his home, he knew what this was all like. But either way, he still hated the place. However, he was always forced to go back. And only for the reason that he knew that he could not survive alone. He knew not how to protect himself, nor how to fight. His parents had never really payed any attention to him. They were always worried about all the other pups that were just as important as he was. And he knew that. They were all born at the same time. They all grew up together. So some of the others ran away or other things happened to them? Why should they all ignore him for that? However, they did. So Sek was always alone and uncared for. He disliked his family now. They never taught him anything. All he knew was what he taught himself. Therefore, Sek did not know if he could trust this Boshaani.
Look. I'm not going to tell you anything. So just stay away from me.
Sek spoke harsh words again as he threw away the thought of her really being scared. And even if she was, what did he care? She would only cause him more problems. He needed no other. Why should he bother with her? Sek choose to look fierce again and scare off Boshaani before she found out that he could not harm her. Or at least make it so that she would leave him alone. The wolf did not run all the way away from his home just to deal with this creature. No, he had better things to do. Maybe somewhere inside of him was the feeling that she would not hurt him, but he ignored it. Maybe inside he had a need to be with others, but he would not heed it. Sek only did as he pleased. He cared about no one, because no one cared about him. No one shared the same views as him. They dubbed him strange and left him alone. But all for the better. He did not need anyone. Never did. Never will.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a low growl, Boshaani threw herself at Sek, since she was finally fed up with his stuck-up attitude. She didn't appreciate people, or animals, trying to intimidate her, nor did she appreciate the fact that he wouldn't answer her question. What, did he think she would eat him or something? Pinning him to the ground, she stared at him, not saying anything, but just watching... She wanted to see how he'd react once he was the one without an advantage. Would he be quite so cocky now? She didn't think so, but she needed to find out for herself.
Still breathing over him, Boshaani's eyes held their kindness, though it was carefully hidden behind the anger that she felt now, since she didn't happen to want to kill Sek or anyone else. The fae wasn't a killer, but she would if she felt threatened. Or if she got mad, which didn't happen too often... Either way, the consequences weren't too pretty, as Sek could now see. In fact, normally she was much worse. This was her when she wasn't really afraid, just completely fed up. Nobody would want to see her when she was backed into a corner, nobody...
With a snarl and a low, throaty chuckle, Boshaani stepped off of Sek, before staring him straight in the eye and asking him, once again, the same question she had before, though slightly more confidently.
Now, whom do I address?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the attack then retreat of Boshaani, Sek's mood completely changed. He had been right. Now he was sure of it. His fears have become real. She had not been fooled by his pretending. She had figured him all out now. He could not protect himself, he knew he would fall to whatever sort of power she contained. Sek knew he had failed. And now he knew not what to do.
The young wolf's body shook with fear that he could no longer control. His feet could not hold him and they fell to the ground. Pain shot through his body, but not quite from the fall. He was scared. Scared beyond any other time. For he had never been faced with one that could hurt him. He had not known failure or this type of pain. Forever, he had locked himself away and known nothing of the life he lives other than that of nature. Sek closed his eyes and lay upon his side, refusing to even face Boshaani. He had no idea what to do and was petrified with fear now. What would she do to him? Would he never be able to return to the few things he loved most? Was she really dangerous as he had thought? Oh, Sek was so confused and lost and scared. What, tell me, what could he do?
However, fortune looked down upon Sek at this time. And he was saved from finding out on his own. For as the girl Boshaani spoke to him her question, his mood suddenly changed again. And it was not his own self that had done so. He had no control now. None at all. A power grew inside of him. Anger flared through his veins. Fire burned in his eyes now. And there was nothing he could do to stop himself if he wanted to. But he did not want to, for he knew not what he was doing.
The black wolf began to change. His form as a wolf shifted into that of something else. Fur disappeared into slightly pale skin. Tail, gone completely. Ears, jaw, teeth, paws, and legs changed into a different shape. After a few moments, it was obvious. Sek had shifted into a human. The male kneeled forward upon the ground, naked. Short black hair, the same color as the fur he had lost only moments ago, covered his head. But even at this being complete, Sek could still not control himself. He was not done. Eyes continued to flare. The girl was still there, he had to do something about this.
Without looking up at Boshaani, Sek moved a shaking, clenched hand into the air. After about a moment, he opened it then moved it carefully back to the ground. Immediately, a dark green wisp of something perhaps related to fire came twisting through the air from Sek to Boshaani. It obviously had the intention of hitting her, and causing serious damage. The now human's breath pace increased and he still refused to look up. He had no idea what was going on... How was he supposed to control it?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Sek shifted, Boshaani smiled to herself. So he was a shifter too... At this thought, she herself shifted, though much faster, into a human girl in mid-teenage years, with long black hair that fell straight down her back, which ended in golden tips. Her entire form was covered in a shadow-black cloak, which seemed to cause her body to disappear. Her milky white skin was evident on her face, which harbored twin pools of gold, as well as a dainty mouth and nose. Elegant feet protruded slightly from the bottom of her cloak, for she did not need shoes.
As Sek sent his magic at her, Boshaani jumped straight up and landed on a branch, which belonged to the tree he had just left. With a smirk, Boshaani sat down, dangling her legs at him. She didn't want to fight; she had only attacked him out of fear. But now he was retaliating and she didn't intend to harm him. With a flick of her delicate wrist, she sent her own, golden magic at his attack, which seemed to explode in many golden sparks. She then jumped down next to him and placed her cold hand gently on his shoulder- her sign of peace.
I mean you no harm, you know. I just didn't like your attitude too much... Guess that's what I get for being alone for so long... But you're a shifter, too! I've never met another one...
She sighed and let herself drift off into silence, though she was still absently stroking poor Sek's shoulder and hair. She didn't mean to hurt him, she just couldn't control herself sometimes...
