He was late, yet again. But it didn't matter, or, rather, he hoped that it didn't. So, here Carn was, running down the hallway in his standard black hoodie (which could have belonged to somebody's sister) and hip hugging jeans. Panting slightly from the run, he grinned and whispered a spell, flicking his wand and making a wrapped gift appear in front of him, since he didn't trust it not to turn his hand into a frog or something.
And then, he waited, a slight smile on his face as he listened intently for the sound of his friend's feet on the floor, the familiar stride one of the many things about Pyri that made him curse his choice in clothing. Closing his eyes and thinking about naked old people did the trick, sending a shiver down the boy's spine as he made various faces that that mental image. "Damn, that'll be there for a while now..." he muttered, referring to the scar those pictures were bound to have left him with. Ah, well, back to waiting. So he sat there, keeping his mind focused on how happy his friend would be with the present that he had made, a silly grin plastered on his face as he let his mind wander, the old people hovering in shadows of his thoughts, were they to be needed once more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pyri was sure he was supposed to be somewhere. He knew it. But he couldn't exactly remember. Not that this wasn't unusual or anything. But usually people gave him a little note to keep so he wouldn't forget. This time he didn't get one. Or... did he? Checking a pocket in his jacket, he found a small folded paper. Of course. After reading it, he shot down the hallways. He was already late. After a minute or so, Pyri came to where he was supposed to be. He could see Carn standing in the hall, waiting for him.
"Sorry, Carn. I forgot I had the paper you gave me... So I'm all late again. So what'd you want me for, anyway?"
He turned his head to the side and waited for an answer. There was no point in even coming up with a guess in his mind. He knew he'd be completely off. That's what always happens. Without fail. It just wasn't possible for him to put any information together like that. And besides, it would end up hurting his head. And that never is any fun.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He looks amazing... Was the only thought in the teenager's head for a moment, before he shook it slightly and grinned, holding out the package to his companion, "Here! I just made it and have absolutely no idea what's inside!" It was amazing how happy he was saying that, though, but it never took much. He didn't care that his friend was late; that was pretty common, but it just made him happy to see the boy.
Pyri meant so much to Carn, being one of the only actual friends that he had ever had. He couldn't even remember life without the 'freak', as he affectionately called him, though he tried to make sure that it was obvious that he was kidding. It would hurt him if he hurt his friend, something that few people knew of the quiet, cruel boy. He did, in fact, have a heart. It was just well-hidden behind meaningless flirting and snide remarks. Oh, and don't forget apathy. But when he was around the bouncy other, he could just be himself, before he was placed in Slytherin and forced to toughen up or become a human punching bag, something that he attempted to save his freak from if it ever came to his attention that something might not be going in the hyperactive boy's favor.
"Anyway, I just wanted to, you know, see you... I kinda missed you since, er... This morning?" Voice was slightly embarrassed, though he couldn't help but grin; it was true. Though they practically slept in the same bed, and had done so on occasion, he couldn't help but feel like part of him was missing without the other Slytherin around to keep him company, as girls didn't mean much to him and most guys either hated him or scared him shitless. Well... All but a few. And they would probably be best to never meet, he thought grimly, still grinning on the exterior.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eyes widened at seeing Carn's surprise. He was right, he would have never guessed. Taking the present from his friend, he hopped around as he opened it as quickly as his hands could move. Once the paper was ripped into pieces and scattered on the floor, he inspected the contents. It was a small circular white object. Light green speckles covered it. Attempting to figure out what it was, Pyri brought it closer to his face. As he did so, a crack appeared at the top of it and slowly made it's way down the side. Gasping in surprise, the boy was afraid that he had already broke it. But before he could start to feel really bad, he saw something poking out from inside. Opening the sphere a little more, a little green snake crawled out and wound itself around Pyri's arm.
"Oh, thank you, Carn! He's amazing!"
With this, he ran forward and hugged Carn with all his might, which really wasn't all that much. Once he let go, he looked back to the little creature happily slithering around. "I'm going to name him Frank." Yes, Frank. Pyri's middle name. What else?
Petting the snake on it's head, he turned to Carn again. "That was really nice of you, you know. And I missed you too." He smiled widely and continued to pet the snake.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Staring at the snake, Carn grinned, mentally cursing himself. He just... had a thing about snakes. Favorite animal and all, though dogs were easier to fanta-... he stopped right there, heaving a very loud mental sigh as he watched his friend, "Frank is a great name, Py!"
Just think old people, Carn, you can do it... His inner voice instructed as he found himself wondering if his friend was actually as straight as he thought that he was. It had just... never come up, was all, so he didn't know. As far as he knew, it wouldn't work because Pyri wasn't into guys, much less ones like him. But there was still that hope, which he couldn't shake, no matter how hard he tried.
Not that he thought of it, the teenager didn't know if his friend knew about his bisexuality, though he doubted this. It wasn't as if he walked around with a sign around his neck advertising it and he didn't let on to anyone, really. Just those that caught his attention, though even they didn't get it necessarily.
"And it wasn't a problem at all, you know that I like seeing you happy..." His voice was quiet, though not necessarily sad. But he didn't know if the overjoyed expression on his face would ever leave him; he had this feeling that it would appear in his dreams at least once over the next week, which was only slightly awkward, not that he really minded so much.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At Carn's words, the teenager's eyes closed for a moment and mouth turned up into a huge smile. Then he proceeded to hop around the hall out of happiness. The little snake seemed to catch Pyri's mood, slithered up to Pyri's shoulder, and hissed in glee. Barely even noticing, he continued to bounce about aimlessly. It wasn't until he saw Carn's face that he stopped. He looked sort of sad, and Pyri couldn't imagine why. He was such a good friend, and he should know that.
"You okay?"
He hoped there was nothing really wrong. Perhaps it was just the lighting. There were only torches to keep the room bright anyway. But before he could even wait for a response, Pyri let out a high pitch scream and began running down the hallway. A few passing students turned in surprise, but after realizing who it was, they simply continued on their way. He kept going until he accidentally ran straight into an open classroom door and fell flat on his back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His mouth opened as he was about to tell his friend everything, though it quickly shut as Pyri took off down the hall. Being the good person that he was, Carn got up and ran after him, waiting to hear what his friend's latest hallucination would be.
Grinning as he finally caught up to his fleeing human teddy bear, crouching down next to him and checking his pulse, as well as putting his face near his friend's mouth to make sure that he was still breathing alright. With Pyri, some first-aid knowledge was crucial, since you never knew what he would get himself into.
"Hey, Pyri?" He asked gently, hand reaching up to brush a few stray strands of hair from his friend's face, his fingers hesitating just a moment before he picked up his friend's head and placed it in his lap, so that he could better pet his head to comfort the other, which may be needed, depending on what he had seen. Carn wanted so badly to just lean down and steal one quick kiss, but it wasn't possible; he might not be forgiven, if not by Pyri then by himself, for risking everything for something so stupid. He cared so much for the other boy, his freak, that he just couldn't risk everything like that...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pyri stayed down on the floor as Carn ran forward to help him. He knew the drill because it was what always happened during these times. He looked up at Carn and then smiled for a second as Carn checked to make sure he was alright. After a few moments, it was obvious that he was completely fine.
"Well, there was this giant spider on your head... but it's gone now."
With that said, he closed his eyes. Carn would be sure to take care of him now. He always did. The bump on Pyri's head was really hurting, but a bit of magic would easily fix it. And other than that, he wasn't hurt at all. And barely even scared. Yeah, he didn't like spiders all that much, but it was gone anyway. So there was nothing to worry about. Not that there really ever was for Pyri. He opened his mouth to say something else, but all that came out was a bunch of sounds that made no sense at all together. And then he started laughing. The laugh turned into a slight cough, and then he just stayed quiet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grinning at his friend, Carn continued to stroke the brown hair on the other boy's head, leaning forward and tenderly kissing his forehead, though he waited patiently as Py tried to speak, raising a naturally black eyebrow as he waited out the sounds and the laughter, wondering what was up now. But, as he heard the cough, his brows furrowed and he looked questioningly at the other, "Py, are you okay?" His voice was edged with concern, however silly it might have been. His emerald eyes shone brightly with the love that he felt for the other boy, though he was still far too afraid to say anything. It made him feel like he had betrayed himself; after all, who had ever heard of a scared Slytherin?
Realizing that the bump that was forming on his friend's head was probably pretty painful, he pulled out his wand and murmured a spell, which should ease the pain, if not heal the bump entirely. "How's that feel?" He asked, idly scratching behind the boy's ears, as one might expect for a dog. However, this was just an absentminded gesture and he didn't mean to imply anything of his friend, though he couldn't help but feel a kind of protective affection for the other, which he wouldn't have stopped showing for the world, despite his fear of others discovering the strong feelings that he kept hidden away.
